A collectible, silhouette-based artist trading card series inspired by the impact, emotion, and legacy of Hip-Hop and R&B culture.

Project Name: “The Sounds Of the Culture”
Concept: A collectible trading card set celebrating the icons and rising legends of Hip-Hop and R&B — each card blending visual art, lyricism, and cultural storytelling. Think: the nostalgic collectability of Pokémon + the visual artistry of album covers + the emotional depth of music culture.
Problem:
There are no trading card collections that celebrate music culture with intentional design, emotional storytelling, or a modern visual approach. Existing entertainment cards focus on likenesses or generic pop culture moments, but nothing captures the essence of Hip-Hop & R&B artists in a way that feels premium, artistic, and culturally respectful.
Solution:
I created Sounds of the Culture™, a fully original trading card collection that transforms iconic artists into stylized, silhouette-based character cards. Each card is built around the artist’s unique energy—custom color palettes, themed card titles, personalized stat systems, song-inspired lyric highlights, and city-rooted storytelling. The identity combines bold typography, gold-foil accents, smooth gradients, and culture-driven motifs to create a premium collectible that honors the sound and soul of the culture.
Deliverables:
Trading card front + back layouts, artist bios, lyric sections, 5-point stat system, color palettes, collection badge/logo, packaging design, foil pack mockups, illustration textures, social media previews, and full visual concept boards.
Result:
A cohesive, premium trading card series that feels modern, intentional, and connected to the culture—celebrating the individuality of each artist while maintaining a unified collector’s aesthetic. The collection reimagines music storytelling through design, offering a visual experience that feels both nostalgic and contemporary, crafted to resonate with Hip-Hop & R&B lovers, designers, and collectors alike.
